One of my best friends is having a baby in June and I had the privilege of being one of the hosts for her and baby Liberty Chandler’s baby shower.
Mema also helped host. She was the first one in the kitchen to wash the dishes. That lady is unstoppable!
Here are a few photos from the shower.
We are so happy for Alli and Chris and cannot wait for baby Liberty Chandler to be here 🙂
With only one day left in October, it was time to channel our inner Betty Crocker and get in the pumpkin spirit.
My roommate, Libby, even created her own canned pumpkin for this recipe.
These pumpkin muffins (because a cupcake without icing is definitely a muffin!) are so easy to make. All you need is canned pumpkin, yellow cake mix and mini chocolate chips.
Cheers to Fall & sweater season!
My friend (and coworker) Julia and I decided to enter homemade whoopie pies for our annual work Dessert Day.
The relatively easy whoopie pies were a big hit (at least we think?) and if not, we enjoyed them!
The recipe is from Just a Pinch 🙂
Although I have bad luck in the kitchen, between lighting breakfast casseroles on fire and serving my friends horrible veggies that didn’t really defrost, Julia, Mema and family helped make these perfect.

Dessert Day @ The Zimmerman Agency
My friends and I decided a few months back that we would TRI a new challenge, the Tri The Rez triathlon.
It’s quite comical because we all have our own strengths of the three parts of the race. My worst is definitely swimming. To make training more enjoyable, we goofed off, a lot…
We went into the race wanting to have fun and enjoy a nice Saturday morning activity, but we would be lying if we said we weren’t nervous standing there by the water before the whistle went off.
I think the key to enjoying Triathlons is a good support system and not taking yourself too seriously.
Libby and I laughed and joked the whole time on the bike and she may, or may not have, had to pull me in the swim — what a great friend!
One thing we all loved was the triathlon community, everyone was cheering us on and encouraging us the entire way. Entering the last mile of the run, I was just pumped to finish and have a beer. I definitely couldn’t have finished without my two “shred sisters.”
From triathlons to tailgates, we had our Saturday covered. Hopefully this won’t be a one time event, but a new lifestyle.
With Our Favorite Den Mother
In honor of the victorious Seminole win, I thought I would post a few photos of that wonderful day. >>—->>
New Game Day Sign
The only thing missing was Mema dancing on tables and playing beer pong! Go ‘Noles!
I would also like to take the time to pay homage to my iPhone4, a FSU/Clemson Gameday Casualty. What was your gameday casualty?
Watch out… you might get what you’re after!
To kick off football season, my roommates and I decided to throw a gameday brunch… little did we know we would endanger our lives. This is what happens when we don’t have my grandmother, Mema’s, guidance.
We knew we had a large amount of people coming over so we decided to make three breakfast casseroles, pigs-in-a-blanket, fruit and bagels and donuts. We were proud of ourselves for staying in on a Friday night to prepare all of this food.
As we were getting ready, the casseroles were cooking in the oven. All of the sudden, one my roommates was screaming from the kitchen. I ran down the hall way to be greeted by smoke billowing out of the oven.
Of course, this was my doing. Who turns the BROIL on and leaves it?! FOR 10 MINUTES — WITH CORN FLAKES ON TOP!? Mema, might just disown me.
Thank God one of my roommates thought to scrape off the cornflakes, and it was my bright idea to add MORE cheese and MORE corn flakes. I’m actually pretty proud of that move… In my opinion, cheese makes everything better.
Here was our re-purposed casseroles that got devoured at the brunch.
The Set Up
At the end of the day crispy (charred?) casserole goes pretty well with a mimosa, or two 😉 Cheers to football season!
The Game Day Crew
There’s not much better than hanging out with friends you haven’t seen in awhile. This past weekend a bunch of us got together for some good times at the lake!
Our friend, Allison, is moving to Dallas so we all got together one more time before she treks to the state where everything is bigger!
Friends are the most important ingredient in this recipe of life.
Here are a few of the photos:

This never gets old
Another year older, another year wiser? Not so sure on that one.
My birthday is actually Tuesday, but some of my family came down to visit and celebrate over the weekend — I am one lucky girl!
I pulled up to Mema’s house and she had the banner outside. It put a big smile on my face.
I love family get togethers at my grandmothers house. We love good food and good wine 🙂 I wasn’t complaining about the appetizer spread.
My Aunt surprised me with my favorite food: BOILED PEANUTS! I almost died of happiness.
The nephews –Day and Ford– came running in saying “Happy Birthday Jill! Happy Birthday Jill!” I could just tell they practiced it all day 🙂
Of course, Carlos came — we are born one day apart and celebrate every year together. Here is our birthday kids photo:
There is nothing better than being around the people you love for special occasions.
Aunt Ginny, cousin John, Mema and I
After we got done eating, my nephews ran over to me. I see the cake coming at me and everyone starts singing. Then I realize the boys had decorated it for me.
It was such a sweet moment. They were so excited to see it and help me blow out the candles. I love those boys with my whole heart.
Libby and the cake
I wasn’t surprised or anything?!
It was great to celebrate with close friends, laugh and remember all of the great times we have had together. Of course, we missed those who couldn’t be there. You know who you are.
